Manulife Financial Posts Rise In Q1 Profit

reported a 22% surge in its first-quarter profit. Manulife Financial's quarterly earnings surged to C$1.2 billion ($1.21 billion), or 66 Canadian cents per share, from C$985 million, or 54 Canadian cents per share, in the year-ago period. Manulife Financial shares closed at $13.57 yesterday.
