Shaw Communications Reports Rise In FQ1 Earnings
Shaw Communications Inc (NYSE: SJR) reported a rise in its fiscal first-quarter earnings.
Shaw Communications' revenue surged 19% to C$1.28 billion. It reported a 28% rise in earnings excluding non-operating items. The company's free cash flow dropped to C$119 million from C$154 million.
Shaw Communications' net income from continuing operations climbed to C$202 million, or 43 Canadian cents per share, versus C$17 million, or 3 Canadian cents per share, in the year-ago period. Excluding items, the company's earnings came in at C$210 million. Analysts were expecting a profit of 47 Canadian cents per share.
Shaw Communications shares gained 1.89% to $20.50 in pre-market trading.
