Starbucks Corp (NASDAQ: SBUX) reported around 29% surge in its fiscal fourth-quarter profit. The company's quarterly earnings climbed to $358.5 million, or $0.47 per share, up from $278.9 million, or $0.37 per share, in the year-ago period. Excluding one-time gains, Starbucks earned $0.37 per share. Its revenue gained 7% to $3 billion. Analysts were expecting earnings of $0.36 per share on revenue of $2.95 billion. Starbucks shares surged 3.07% to $42.67 in the after-hours trading session.
Wall Street expects Pepco Holdings Inc (NYSE: POM) to report its Q3 profit at $0.41 per share on sales of $2.01 billion. POM shares gained 1.22% to close at $19.86 yesterday.
LinkedIn Corp (NYSE: LNKD) reported a loss in the third quarter. The company posted a quarterly loss of $1.6 million, or $0.02 per share, versus year-ago earnings of $4 million, or $0.02 per share. Its revenue jumped to $139 million. LNKD shares dipped 9.36% to $79.31 in after-hours trading.
Analysts expect Washington Post Co (NYSE: WPO) to report its Q3 profit at $3.85 per share on revenue of $1 billion. WPO shares gained 1.79% to close at $335.70 yesterday.
CBS Corp (NYSE: CBS) reported strong third-quarter profit. The company's quarterly net income climbed to $338 million, or $0.50 per share, from $317 million, or $0.46 per share, in the year-ago period. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.46 per share. Its revenue gained 2% to $3.37 billion. CBS shares fell 1.72% to close at $24.52 yesterday.
