UPDATE: Landstar Reports Rise In Q3 Earnings, Issues Upbeat Q4 Earnings Forecast

Landstar System Inc (NASDAQ: LSTR) reported a 45% surge in its Q3 earnings per share and issued upbeat Q4 earnings forecast.

Landstar reported its quarterly net income at $30.2 million, or $0.64 per share, up from $21.8 million, or $0.44 per share, in the year-ago quarter. Its revenue gained to $684 million from $622.8 million. However, analysts were expecting profit of $0.62 per share on revenue of $679.7 million.

Landstar projects Q4 earnings of $0.62 to $0.67 per share, versus analysts' estimates of $0.60 per share.

Landstar shares gained 1.81% to $45.00 in pre-market trading.
