Tesla's CFO Steps Down, Will Be Replaced With Company's Ex-CFO

In conjunction with Tesla Inc TSLA's fourth quarter earnings report, the company confirmed Chief Financial Officer Jason Wheeler will step down next month.

Tesla noted in a blog post Wheeler will be leaving Tesla to "pursue opportunities in public policy." He will be replaced by Deepak Ahuja, Tesla's first CFO who left the company in 2015.

Wheeler will officially leave Tesla in early March and stay on board through April to ensure a smooth transition. He left Google to join Tesla where he was most recently VP of Finance and prior to that he was the Director of Finance in Europe, Middle East and Africa.

"After spending the last 15 years helping to make information accessible to everyone and to advance sustainable energy, I'm looking forward to continuing to champion these causes and others from a public policy perspective."

"It is a very important time in the history of Tesla, and I'm excited to be back," Ahuja said. "This is a unique opportunity to rejoin the talented and driven team at Tesla. Every day they are working passionately to significantly improve the long-term future of humanity."
