Thanksgiving Football: Cowboys Go For Franchise Record, Lions Chase Division Title

As the Dak Prescott era of the Dallas Cowboys continues, their game Thursday will be the most anticipated matchup of the week. If you're headed to AT&T Stadium, expect to pay up for Cowboys tickets on the resale market.

The Cowboys are the hottest team in the league right now, set to host the Washington Redskins in Arlington. The mid-day matchup will be the most expensive Turkey Day game and by a considerable margin. Ticket prices are so high that the NFC East battle is the second most expensive Thanksgiving game since 2011.

On TicketIQ,, the average resale price for Cowboys-Redskins tickets is now $496.01. It's trumped only by a 2014 meeting between the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks, which owned a $618 average and $116 ask price.

It will be considerably cheaper to attend the preceding and following games in Detroit and Indianapolis.

The Lions welcome the Vikings in a pivotal NFC North game at Ford Field, and the matinee game will be more than half the price of the Cowboys-Redskins game. The average resale price for Lions-Vikings tickets on TicketIQ is now $197.31. Those with interest in just getting in can find the cheapest tickets from $91.

If traveling to Indianapolis, the prime time game between the Colts and Steelers will be the cheapest Thanksgiving game to attend this season. Tickets for the game currently average $139 and the get-in price is $58.

The exorbitant prices in Arlington are perhaps justified by the implications the game carries. The Cowboys are seeking their 10th straight win, which would extend their franchise record of consecutive wins in a single season. They’ll face a streaky Redskins team, who are in the midst of their own winning streak after taking down the Vikings and Packers over the last two weeks. Their 6-3 record keeps them within striking distance of the 9-1 Cowboys in the tight NFC East playoff picture.
