The worst performing industries in the market today are:

  • Appliances: This industry slipped 10 percent by 11:00 am. The worst stock within the industry was Whirlpool Corporation WHR, which fell 11.5 percent. Whirlpool posted weak results for the third quarter.
  • Information & Delivery Services: This industry declined 6.6 percent by 11:00 am with Nielsen N.V. NLSN moving down 14 percent. Nielsen posted downbeat Q3 results.
  • Auto Parts: This industry fell 3.7 percent by 11:00 am ET. Lear Corporation LEA shares dropped 3.4 percent in today's trading. Lear shares have declined 2.41 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has increased 3.87 percent in the same period.
  • Sporting Goods Stores: The industry dropped 2.6 percent by 11:00 am. The worst performer in this industry was Dicks Sporting Goods Inc DKS, which declined 4 percent.
