The Energizer Bunny Is Making A Return: Here's A Look Back At The Pop Culture Icon's 27-Year History

According to Energizer Holdings Inc ENR, the Energizer Bunny has gotten a new look and will be the center of a brand new ad campaign. The re-designed Energizer Bunny is thinner, has more expressive facial features and will have more flexibility and movement. However, Energizer assures fans that he will maintain his iconic pink fur, sunglasses and blue flip-flops.

“Starting this month, we’re going to unleash the Bunny like never before, using today’s media landscape as a perfect playground for his disruptive nature to break through,” Energizer Chief Consumer Officer Michelle Atkinson explains.

Energizer has plans for traditional TV commercials, Undertone ads, 6-second YouTube bumper ads, a Snapchat lens and a number of other digital and social initiatives.

The Energizer Bunny has been one of the most recognizable marketing tools of all time since his debit in 1989. In 1999, the Bunny was named one of the top 10 brand icons of the 20th century by Advertising Age.

His most memorable moments include battling King Kong and Darth Vader back in 1993 and powering up an alien spacecraft in 2008. It’s possible that Energizer could choose to have the Bunny revisit these memorable moments as part of the new campaign.

Energizer stock has certainly been powered up so far in 2016, climbing 31.6 percent year-to-date.
