Friday's After-Hours Movers: FDA, SEC & Nasdaq Shake Stocks

U.S. stocks surged on Friday, after a disappointing August jobs report, which led investors to believe a rate hike out of the Fed is not an option for September.

Shares of Dynavax Technologies Corporation DVAX lost 31.56 percent over Friday trading, after the FDA cancelled its upcoming ADCOM meeting, where it would decide if the company’s Heplisav drug would be approved or not. After the market closed, shares continue to tumble an extra 1.7 percent on the news.

COMSCORE, Inc. SCOR’s stock also slipped in after-hours trading, after a letter from Nasdaq threatened to suspend trading and de-list the stock as soon as September 12 because the company is late filing several reports. ComScore needs to request a hearing before next Thursday if it intends to keep trading in the Nasdaq exchange, and management says it will. In addition, the company will ask for a “stay of the suspension of trading and delisting of its common stock while the appeals process is pending.”

Finally, there’s Herbalife Ltd. HLF, which gained almost 1 percent since the bell rang, on the back of a Form 4 filing from Carl Icahn. According to the SEC document, the famed investor acquired 306,846 shares of the company, taking its stake to 21 percent of the outstanding stock.
