The world's most expensive home has just hit the market for a reported $1.1 billion. The estate, Villa Les Cèdres, is located on the Mediterranean in the French Riviera (Côte d'Azur) , just between Nice and Monaco in an area known as the "Billionaires' Playground."

The home features 10 bedrooms, a ballroom, concierge, a chapel, 50-meter swimming pool dug into the rocks, a winter garden and stables for 30 horses. This one-of-a-kind property also features one of the most beautiful private gardens in Europe, with over 15,000 rare tropical species.

The price is so exuberant, the five most expensive homes in the United States could be purchased for the price of Villa Les Cèdres, and the buyer would still have money to spare. In comparison, the most expensive home on the market in the United States is listed for a reported $195 million, known as the Magalapan Megamansion in South Florida. Unsurprisingly, the majority of the top 25 most expensive homes on the market currently are in New York, Florida and California. Here are the top five most expensive listing in the United States currently.
