The Dow fell 0.35 percent to 18,487.96, while the NASDAQ composite index declined 0.27 percent to 5,212.75. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index slipped 0.29 percent to 2,171.74.

The worst performing industries in the market today are:

  • Electronics Stores: This industry slipped 2.4 percent by 11:00 am. The worst stock within the industry was Appliance Recycling Centers of America ARCI, which fell 27 percent. Appliance Recycling Centers of America shares have surged 14.96 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has gained 3.60 percent in the same period.
  • Silver: This industry declined 2 percent by 11:00 am with First Majestic Silver Corp AG moving down 4.8 percent. Silver futures dropped 1.2 percent to trade at $19.64 an ounce.
  • Home Furnishing Stores: This industry fell 1.9 percent by 11:00 am ET. Restoration Hardware Holdings Inc RH shares dropped 3.3 percent in today's trading. Restoration Hardware shares have declined 68.65 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has gained 3.60 percent in the same period.
  • Networking & Communication Devices: The industry dropped 1.7 percent by 11:00 am. The worst performer in this industry was Xtera Communications Inc XCOM, which declined 3.4 percent.
