We May See More Spas At The Airport

Massages at the airport? New York-based Airport Spa Company XpresSpa is making this a reality to the relief of travelers everywhere.

The company announced it has been acquired by Form Holdings Corp FH. The deal worth a reported $40 million is roughly equal to XpresSpa's annual revenue. XspresSpa operates 47 locations in 20 U.S. airports, and the company is aiming for 120 locations nationwide.

After passing through security at the airport, travelers spend an estimated 65 minutes at the airport before boarding. This gives travelers enough time to get a massage or a manicure, as a way to kill time or to relax before a stressful flight.

Airports continue to increase their luxury offerings with wine bars and upscale restaurants for travelers waiting to board. Not surprisingly, XpresSpa claims its most popular services are 15 and 20 minute neck massage services.

Airport retail spending is expected to reach $10 billion annually, a 138 percent increase from 2015's $4.2 billion figure.

Form Holdings was up about 15 percent to $2.40 after reporting Q2 earnings.
