The Dow fell 0.01 percent to 18,454.30, while the NASDAQ composite index rose 0.31 percent to 5,171.15. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index gained 0.24 percent to 2,175.17.

The worst performing industries in the market today are:

  • Publishing - Books: This industry slipped 7.2 percent by 11:30 am. The worst stock within the industry was Pearson PLC (ADR) PSO, which fell 8.1 percent. Pearson reported a drop in its half-year sales.
  • Photographic Equipment & Supplies: This industry declined 2.6 percent by 11:30 am with GoPro Inc GPRO moving down 3.2 percent. GoPro shares have tumbled 78.96 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has gained 2.92 percent in the same period.
  • Insurance Brokers: This industry fell 1.1 percent by 11:30 am ET. eHealth, Inc. EHTH shares dropped 27 percent in today's trading. eHealth reported a Q2 net loss of $0.5 million, versus a year-ago net income of $5.8 million. The company’s revenue missed estimates.
  • Semiconductor - Integrated Circuits: The industry dropped 0.8 percent by 11:30 am. The worst performer in this industry was Superconductor Technologies, Inc. SCON, which declined 6.5 percent.
