Honeywell Survey Indicates Airlines Risk Losing Passengers On Poor Wi-Fi

Honeywell International Inc. HON has conducted a survey of airline passengers and found an increasing level of frustration among the passengers with the existing in-flight Wi-Fi offerings compared with the 2014 study.

Honeywell said that nearly three out of the four passengers were ready to switch airlines currently to have access to a quicker, as well as more reliable Wi-Fi connection. Aside from that, out of over 1,000 American travelers polled, annoyance was growing. The company pointed out that just 22 percent viewed their in-flight Wi-Fi were extremely reliable in the last 12 months. This was five percentage point lower than 27 percent recorded in the year 2014.

The survey also stated that travelers were clear that they expect consistent, faster in-flight connections, and this survey revealed three key reasons why airlines must act quickly to deliver this service or risk losing business.

Honeywell cited traveler loyalties depend with Wi-Fi, consistent connections were critical everywhere and millennials value Wi-Fi more than most. The company said that more millennials have switched to an airline that provided better in-flight options than older generations.

On Tuesday, the stock traded up 0.66 percent.
