8x8 Gets 3 New Cloud-Communications Patents

8x8, Inc. EGHT revealed that it was granted three fresh patents taking its total number of patents to 121. According to the company, these three patents cover networked contact centers, data storage and conferencing, allowing businesses to take complete advantage of the cloud power for their communications requirements.

8x8 said that the patent connected with "Networked Contact Center" was part of a family of four other patents with issue dates between 2008 and 2014 related to the company's Virtual Contact Center architecture. The company added that it enabled a number of platforms of networked contact centers to host several contact center tenants, and ensures this data was handled securely within the architecture.

The company stated that its "User Configurable Data Storage" patent allowed different data forms like voice mails, call recordings and other captured data generated by the user of an IP communications service. It also updated a user's index to that data so it will now refer to the remote server.

As far as the third patent, it illustrated one of the ways that local meeting content and data were shared with remote participants in a distributed conference session.

The stock traded 2.55 percent higher to $15.28 at time of writing.
