IBM Launches Next Generation MobileFirst Foundation Meant For Cloud

International Business Machines Corp. IBM revealed the launch of the next generation of IBM MobileFirst Foundation. According to the company, it is now available on its Cloud to simplify, as well as, accelerate enterprise mobile app development.

IBM said cloud adoption continued to be a top focus for enterprises. The company pointed out the IDC forecasts, which disclosed that cloud IT infrastructure spending would reach $57.8 billion by 2020 representing 47.9 percent of the total spending on enterprise IT infrastructure.

The tech firm indicated this move towards a cloud infrastructure needed a mobile app development platform exclusively designed to offer the essential backend services for cloud deployments. The company expects the feature to enable enterprises to use the front-end tools of their choice to create powerful mobile experiences with greater speed, security and performance.

IBM's VP of MobileFirst, Michael Gilfix, commented, "Demand for cloud continues to skyrocket and mobile applications are the driving force behind that demand within the enterprise. Uniquely designed for the cloud, the new IBM MobileFirst Foundation meets the need for speed and productivity in mobile application development without compromising security."

The company said mobile was a critical entry point for digital transformation, as well as, more enterprises migrated to the cloud, and that they would look for the key advantages provided by the new IBM MobileFirst Foundation.

IBM shares traded 1.16 percent higher on Thursday.
