CBS Extends Pact With Grammys, Shifts Awards Back To Sunday Nights

Just a few days after seeing a record rise in ratings for its broadcast of the 70th Annual Tony Awards, CBS Corporation CBS turned its attention to another of its long-running award franchises: The Grammys.

The network announced on Wednesday it had signed a extension with The Recording Academy to keep the Grammy Awards on CBS through 2026. The deal comes five years into the network's previous 10-year extension.

In addition the pact will continue to include two hour-long Grammy specials a year on top of the award show itself. As part of the announcement, CBS revealed music's biggest night will return to Sundays after a poorly-received jump to Mondays this year.

At the completion of the extension, CBS will have been the home for over 50 years dating back to 1973. The alliance marks the longest continuous partnership between an awards show and a broadcaster in television history.
