Worst Performing Industries For June 14, 2016


The Dow fell 0.52 percent to 17,639.76, while the NASDAQ composite index declined 0.42 percent to 4,828.30. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index dropped 0.47 percent to 2,069.30.

The worst performing industries in the market today are:

Drug Manufacturers - Other: This industry slipped 2.2 percent by 11:00 am. The worst stock within the industry was Novo Nordisk A/S (ADR) NVO, which fell 4.9 percent. Novo Nordisk reported that its diabetes drug Victoza significantly reduced the risk of cardiovascular death, heart attack or non-fatal stroke by 13 percent in a trial.

Publishing - Books: This industry declined 2 percent by 11:00 am with John Wiley & Sons Inc JW moving down 6.4 percent. John Wiley & Sons posted adjusted Q4 earnings of $0.67 per share on revenue of $434.3 million.

Silver: This industry fell 1.7 percent by 11:00 am ET. Endeavour Silver Corp EXK shares dropped 4.2 percent in today's trading. Silver futures declined 0.4 percent to trade at $17.38 an ounce.

Foreign Money Center Banks: The industry dropped 1.5 percent by 11:00 am. The worst performer in this industry was Lloyds Banking Group PLC (ADR) LYG, which declined 2.7 percent.
