iPhone 7, 7 Plus Leak Shows Departure Of Features

Apple Inc. AAPL has always reserved the top features for its iPhone Plus series, including a better screen, better cameras and superior battery life. A new Forbes article outlines how the trend may continue for the iPhone 7 Plus.

Forbes, citing 9to5Mac, said evidence has surfaced that the iPhone 7 Plus will once more have equipment superiority over the standard iPhone 7. Features missing from the standard that will be included on the Plus are rumored to include a dual camera and smart connectivity.

The Plus Adds 2 Significant Upgrades

The report elaborated that "the iPhone 7 Plus is getting a much bigger camera upgrade than the iPhone 7 this year."

"Whereas the iPhone 7 will get a small upgrade, the iPhone 7 Plus will be moving to the much vaunted dual camera technology already seen from the likes of LG and Huawei," the report highlighted.

It will be interesting to see how Apple implements the dual lens feature in iPhone 7 Plus, and it "could prove the killer difference when millions come to upgrade."

Further, the report said smarter connectivity will be an iPhone 7 Plus only feature, and the rumored move makes sense. "The Smart Connector allows the Lightning port to both send and receive power and data simultaneously," the report outlined. Additionally, the costly smart connectivity feature also help Apple justify the price difference between iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

"This allows for things like portable keyboards to be powered by an Apple device (as seen with the iPad Pro range) and that probably makes more sense with the larger screen and bigger battery of the Plus," the report added.

The report also said the iPhone 7 Plus is expected to have a 3GB RAM, bigger battery life and "potentially we may even see the arrival of a third 5.5-inch model – the iPhone 7 Pro (reports on it remain mixed)."
