critical beloved "The Americans' is just weeks away from wrappings it fourth season but fans can rest assured it will be back in 2017 and 2018, but there's a twist. The network revealed on Wednesday, "The Americans" will indeed return but its sixth season, slated for 2018, will be its last. The move doesn't really come as a surprise as the show has never been a solid ratings performer, but has survived largely because of its critical backing and significant DVR numbers boost. The set end date will also give the series producers ample time to bring the show to the conclusion they had always envisioned. Series creator Joe Weisberg and executive producer Joel Fields have also signed new deals with FX to keep them in the fold following the show's end. FX is in the process of re-stocking its roster following the end of such successful series as "Justified" and "Sons of Anarchy." "The Americans" and "American Horror Story" has helped provide stability for the network as new programs such as "American Crime Story," "Fargo" and the upcoming "Sons" spin-off "Mayans MC" are finding their footing.
