AMC's after-show trend is proving to have a exceptionally long lifespan, as MTV (
Viacom, Inc.VIAB
) entered the fray with "Scream After Dark" Wednesday.

The new series will air Mondays at midnight following next week's season two debut of "Scream," the TV adaptation of the horror film franchise. Actor and author Jeffrey Self will host the weekly series, which will include interviews with the cast and exclusive behind the scenes footage.

FX, A&E and the BBC have all boarded the after-show train in recent times, with HBO taking it a step further and releasing its "Game of Thrones" themed "After The Thrones" largely on its streaming networks as a way to add extra value to the service.

"Scream" was a mild success for MTV last season and earned a sophomore run, which will reunite the surviving cast members from its first run.
