Diana Shipping Gets $1.8 Million Order

Diana Shipping Inc. DSX revealed its unit reached charter contract with Dampskibsselskabet Norden A/S, Copenhagen, for one of its Panamax dry bulk vessels, the m/v Alcyon. The company said the gross charter rate was US$5,000 per day, including a 5 percent commission paid to third parties. The order was valid for a period of minimum 12 months and maximum of 16 months.

Diana Shipping said this employment was expected to generate about US$1.8 million of gross revenue for the minimum scheduled period of the time charter. Currently, it has a fleet of 45 dry bulk vessels. Also, the company expects to take delivery of a Panamax dry bulk vessel in the current month.

The company added its combined carrying capacity of its fleet, excluding the four vessels not yet delivered, was approximately 5.2 million dwt with a weighted average age of 7.6 years.

Following the news, the stock traded 0.31 percent higher.
