CME Group's April Average Contracts Rise 21%

CME Group Inc CME revealed that the volume averaged 13.8 million contracts per day in April representing 21 percent growth from April 2015. According to the company, options volume averaged 2.6 million contracts per day registering 15 percent increase on year-over-year basis. It was driven by electronic options that averaged 1.6 million contracts per day, which was up 31 percent over the same period last year.

The company indicated its total open interest was 110 million contracts representing 20 percent growth from the year-end 2015. CME Group said that Agricultural volume averaged a record 1.9 million contracts per day in April and recorded 52 percent year-over-year jump.

The company said interest rate volume witnessed 8 percent growth to average 5.5 million contacts a day while Eurodollar options daily volume advanced 14 percent in April. The company added that it reached new daily open interest records in Silver and Copper during the month of April.

Shares of the company traded 1.86 percent higher on Monday.
