The five businesses combine for more than $40 million in sales in 2015. The acquisitions is expected to help the company grow its geographic density and strengthen its ability to supply customers.
Financial terms of the transactions were not disclosed.
Praxair acquired three independent distributors of industrial and specialty packaged gases in the United States. The company also acquired a provider of gases for industrial and medical purposes in Panama and a subsidiary in Italy acquired a similar company that operates in the Southern and Northeastern regions of Italy.
"These synergistic acquisitions will contribute profitable growth and reinforce Praxair's integrated business model," said Steve Angel, chairman and chief executive officer of Praxair. "Through prudent capital allocation, we continue to deliver on our strategy of capitalizing on acquisition opportunities in our core geographies while also expanding our exposure to more resilient end-markets, like healthcare."
