Praxair, Inc. PX signed a long-term deal to buy by-product carbon dioxide from US Nitrogen LLC, which is a unit of Austin Powder Company.

Praxair said it would build, own and operate a purification and liquefaction facility of carbon dioxide at US Nitrogen that was recently constructed in Tennessee. The company's unit would also purify by-product carbon dioxide, as well as produce beverage-quality liquid carbon dioxide for distribution and use by customers in the Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic regions of America.

The company's VP for the east region, Todd Lawson, said "Through agreements such as this, we continue to position ourselves to serve growing customer requirements, particularly in the food and beverage segment." He continued, "We have a diverse portfolio of carbon dioxide sources in the Eastern region of the U.S. and this project, when completed, will create more density and efficiency in Praxair's supply network."

Praxair is expected to commence the facility in late 2017 and would expand its sources. In late 2016, the company sees the opportunity to commence carbon dioxide purification plant as disclosed earlier.
