Micron Launches Accelerated Solutions For Open Source and Software-Defined Data Centers

Micron Technology, Inc. MU unveiled accelerated solutions to scale-out solutions for both open source, as well as software-defined data centers. It was a set of solution created for the specific purpose that align computer and storage tightly with new levels of performance and value for customers, according to the company.

Micron Technology said the latest move simplified its path to the next generation all-flash data center. The company indicated the first suite of its accelerated solutions were designed and created in collaboration with enterprising software and hardware companies. That included VMWare, Inc. VMW.

The company's CEO said, "Data center infrastructure needs new solutions. Solutions that are designed from the ground up using semiconductor technology—specifically flash storage today, as well as our exciting new storage class memory. We are proud to bring to our customers, and to Austin, a state-of-the-art center, products and solutions that provide IT departments with a way forward to build out an agile IT infrastructure."

On Tuesday, the company's stock traded down by 2.11 percent.
