Avnet Appointed As Exclusive Global Distributor For Microsemi ACT FPGAs

said, in a press statement, that it has been appointed as the exclusive global distributor for Microsemi Corporation's ACT 1, ACT 2 and ACT 3 field programmable gate array (FPGA) families. According to the company, the appointment comes into immediate effect. Avnet indicated that it would manage quotes, as well as, new orders for these products as part of its Technology Life Support program that offer its customers with extended access to discontinued electronic components. The company's SVP for Semiconductor business development, Lynn Torrel, commented, "Avnet recognizes that customer demand for certain technologies can often outlive the manufacturer's ability to effectively support these devices". He further added, "This program allows Avnet and Microsemi the opportunity to assure our mutual customers a trusted and reliable source for these devices." For its part, Microsemi Senior Director, Andrew Girardi, said: "As we continue to develop industry-leading solutions for customers, our company's ability to serve the defense, aerospace and industrial markets will be further strengthened by the outstanding service and technical support provided by Avnet."
