Shares of Relypsa

surged sharply higher Thursday, following a

report that the company had hired Centerview Partners to handle potential offers. Sources say Relypsa has received a number of approaches from potential buyers. Cantor Fitzgerald, which has a $42 price target on Relypsa, said a deal makes sense. The Street's Adam Feuerstein, heard from an investor that a $38 offer is fair, while Stifel said Relypsa could be valued at $55 per share in a takeout. Relypsa did not respond to a request for comment. Relypsa closed at $23.50 on Thursday, up 62%.
