Oce Announces New Partnership With Intel To Bring Security Features To High-End Printers

Oce, a Canon Inc (ADR) CAJ company, announced a new cybersecurity partnership with Intel Corporation INTC on Wednesday.

As part of the partnership, Intel Security will be providing McAfee Embedded Control to Oce's PRISMAsync printers. The companies noted that devices such as printers, copiers and other peripherals are becoming more prevalent within the Internet of Things (IoT) space and are a risk to cyberattacks. For example, company confidential intellectual property could be exposed, or a hacker could gain access into corporate networks through a connected printer.

Intel Security will provide protection against known and zero-day threats with memory protection, eliminating dependency on anti-virus updates.

"The Internet of Things is enabling greater workplace productivity with devices such as smart, connected printers, but we have to be smart as well and realize these devices may create additional security vulnerabilities," said Tom Moore, vice president at Intel Security Group. "We appreciate Océ's confidence in Intel Security's ability to provide protection for their high-end production printers."

"The partnership between Océ and Intel Security represents a new front in protecting company confidential data from cyber threats," said Erik van Deurzen, director product marketing of Océ Technologies. "By partnering with a leader like Intel Security, we're sending a strong message that our PRISMAsync controller driven printing products are the best choice for organizations that value security, control and compliance."
