HoloLens And The Future Of TV Watching

Microsoft Corporation MSFT held a panel on “The Future of Football: How Technology Could Shape the Next 50 Years of the Game” on Tuesday. After the event, Yusuf Mehdi, Corporate Vice President of the Windows and Devices Group, published an article where he shared a look into some of the topics discussed in the panel.

“What if game day was no longer confined to your television screen, but covered your room and took over your coffee table?” Mehdi started. The VP wanted to share what the company thinks might be possible with the HoloLens, the first fully untethered holographic computer in the world.

In the video embedded above, Microsoft shows how HoloLens and the NFL envision the future of the football experience: it’s all about mixed reality. Fans could not only get the game in their screens, but also beyond it. Can you imagine a replay or player stats popping up of your coffee table?

HoloLens, which runs Windows 10, will render high definition 3D displays, so as to allow fans to see the field and players from different angles, “all while your fantasy scores update in real time, without the need for you to look down at another screen.”
