Nelson Peltz and his Trian Partners are the latest speculated activist investor to be involved with Time Warner Inc TWX. This comes as Peltz is getting back into the media space - his last involvement was in '06 with Tribune.
But sources say that he's kicking around the media space.
Interesting angles that Peltz could be working include - (1) he serves on the Maddison Square Garden board alongside former Time Warner CEO Richard Parsons. (2) Peltz's firm, Trian, just hired Mike White as an advisor - he's the former DirecTV CEO.
Time Warner stock has been a laggard and the company is taking a lot of flack after rebuffing Fox's $85 a buyout share offer in 2014. Can Peltz save TWX investors? It's not likely, unless of course he can convince Jeff Ubben at ValueAct to have Fox make another run at Time Warner.
