Rolls-Royce On Big NAIAS Unveil: It's The 'Sexiest' Car We've Ever Built

Benzinga partner Robb Report built a studio on the show floor of the North American International Auto Show, where host Katrina Szish had the chance to interview Gerry Spahn, head of North American communications for Rolls-Royce Holding PLC (ADR) RYCEY.

How’s Business?

When asked about the state of the business, Spahn assured “business is very good.” 2015 was the company’s second best year ever -– only trailing 2014. Over the year, the company sold 3,785 cars around the world.

Business in North America is “outstanding,” he continued. The United States alone accounts for one-third of total global sales.

The New Rolls-Royce Dawn

The new Rolls-Royce Dawn convertible is currently on display at the Robb Report Live studio; the design was inspired by the 1953 Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn Drophead, one of only 28 prototypes ever built.

Built right after the Second World War, the Silver Dawn Drophead was intended to “give an optimism for a new world," Spahn said.

Rolls-Royce wanted the new Dawn to be “approachable, but lacked nothing on the presence, in the sense that a Rolls-Royce should give you.” It's the "sexiest" car the company has ever built, he said.
