Why These 4 Stocks Are Moving On Wednesday's After-Hours Session

Shares of Chimerix Inc CMRX were trading up almost 6 percent in the after-hours session of the penultimate day of the year. The stock had already gained 13.3 percent during the regular trading session, recuperating some of the ground lost on Monday. The small cap biopharmaceutical company had started the week falling more than 80 percent, from above $35 to under $7.50, after news that its brincidofovir SUPPRESS study has fallen short of endpoint expectations in the prevention of cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection.

On the other hand there’s Tallgrass Energy GP LP TEGP, which was down more than 4.2 percent since the bell rang, losing much of the 8.29 percent gain it achieved over the day. It seems like the surge had been triggered by a Forbes article in which the Dividend Channel named Tallgrass Energy as its “top dividend stock with insider buying” and 6.04 percent yield.

Back to after-hours gainers, there’s PDL BioPharma Inc PDLI, which was up more than 4.6 percent since the market closed, recuperating from the losses (4.41 percent) registered over the regular trading session, which followed the publication of a Motley Fool article that named it among “The Worst 3 Biotech Stocks for 2016.”

Finally, Repligen Corporation RGEN, a small cap life sciences company, was up about 3.6 percent in Wednesday’s after-hours trading session, recuperating from the 3.52 percent tumble experienced during the day, which had, in turn, been caused by –apparently- no particular events.
