Things Are Looking Brighter For Europe

It has been a turbulent year for the eurozone after investors quickly lost faith in the continent's ability to stick together throughout Greece's budget crisis. However, the region proved nay-sayers wrong and made it through a period of severe instability. Now, many are beginning to regain some confidence in the bloc as its share markets recover and quantitative easing looks likely to prop the region up for some time in the future.
Improving Steadily
Over the weekend, European Economics Commissioner Pierre Moscovici
commented
that he still sees the region's recovery as "robust and solid" and that next month's 2016 growth forecast is expected to show that trend continuing into the future. Despite weakness in other areas of the global economy, the European commission previously forecast EU growth to increase from 1.8 percent in 2015 to 2.1 percent in 2016. Moscovici said he believes that such lofty goals are achievable if the region sticks to its reform plans.
Time To Invest?
Such comments have spurred on growing optimism in European investments, which have seen a marked recovery.
Invest Perpetual's European Equity Income Fund
has seen 6.48 percent growth over the past year and
Deutsche European Equity Fund
(DURAX) has risen 2.74 percent. Investors who are looking to place their bets across the pond see the region's recovery continuing and are hoping to ride that wave as uncertainty about interest rates in the US weigh on domestic markets.
Still A Risk
While Europe seems to have put the struggle with Greece into the past, the nation's debts are still a concern. Greece is still required to come back to its creditors for money periodically, at which time they will evaluate how well the nation has conformed to the required bailout conditions. Many expect the region to move past the debt battles of the past year, but there is a chance that default risks could become a problem again in the future.
