US Stock Futures Edge Lower Ahead Of Economic Data

US stock futures traded slightly lower in early pre-market trade. Data on retail sales for August and the Empire State manufacturing index for September will be released at 8:30 a.m. ET. Data on industrial production for August will be released at 9:15 a.m. ET, while business inventories data for July will be released at 10:00 a.m. ET. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 18.5 points to 16,260.5, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index futures fell 1.50 points to 1,942.50. Futures for the Nasdaq 100 index declined 4.75 points to 4,295.00.

European markets were lower today, with the Spanish Ibex Index falling 0.63 percent, STOXX Europe 600 Index declining 0.40 percent and German DAX 30 index dropping 0.33 percent. French CAC 40 Index slipped 0.79 percent and London's FTSE 100 Index fell 0.68 percent. In Asian markets, Japan's Nikkei Stock Average rose 0.34 percent, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index declined 0.49 percent, China's Composite Index Index dropped 3.52 percent and India's BSE Sensex declined 0.58 percent.
