US Stock Futures Jump Ahead Of Economic Data

US stock futures traded higher in early pre-market trade. Data on GDP growth for the second quarter and weekly jobless claims will be released at 8:30 a.m. ET. The pending home sales index for July will be released at 10:00 a.m. ET, while the Kansas City Fed manufacturing index for August will be released at 11:00 a.m. ET. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 203 points to 16,452.0, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index futures rose 22.15 points to 1,960.15. Futures for the Nasdaq 100 index surged 60.10 points to 4,274.60.
A Peek Into Global Markets
European markets were higher today, with the Spanish Ibex Index rising 2.68 percent, STOXX Europe 600 Index surging 2.82 percent and German DAX 30 index gaining 2.92 percent. French CAC 40 Index jumped 2.92 percent and London's FTSE 100 Index rose 2.25 percent. In Asian markets, Japan's Nikkei Stock Average rose 1.08 percent, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index rose 3.60 percent, China's Shanghai Composite Index jumped 5.34 percent and India's BSE Sensex surged 2.01 percent.
