Google Inc.GOOGL
GOOG
detailed on its
official blog how it plans on improving the mobile experience on Google Serch to help shoppers browse, compare and research products. "With shoppers today, big expectations come from the smallest moment," Google commented in its blog post. "That's good news, because retailers now have the technology to deliver on those expectations. The tools we shared this week can help retailers be there in those billions (and trillions!) of micro-moments with the right experience, and in the right context, to win the moments that matter the most." Google will roll out a new enhancement to shopping ads (on Google.com) that makes the ad expand in size as the user swipes over the text. This will reveal key information including availability at nearby stores and product ratings. Google will also begin showing shopping ads with authoritative rankings and product ratings. According to the company's research, the new design resulted in an increase of 11 percent in click-through-rates. Google also introduced new features for users that are just browsing the Search engine to gather information. Product attributes for a product a user is considering to buy will now be displayed in large texts and may be accompanied with a picture. For shoppers who despise brick and mortar shopping as they are worried a product isn't in stock no longer have to worry. Google will now be showing more local inventory adds than ever before. A search such as "coffee maker near me" will pull up the necessary data of nearby retailers. Finally, Google commented that conversion rates on desktop devices are twice as high as mobile devices. The company is looking to bridge the gap by adding "deep links" to their apps right in their shopping ads that is likely to drive people straight to their mobile app instead of the website.
