Report: Facebook Adds Photo Upload Features

Facebook Inc FB is reportedly testing a photo upload system that will enable users to apply text, filters, and stickers to their images.

The social media company has made the system available for most users on iOS and is testing on Android, according to a report Sunday by TechCrunch.

If the system "sounds familiar, it might be because that's exactly what Snapchat does," TechCrunch said.

Facebook is "simply trying to bake the best of everything else into its own," according to the report.

Facebook "may be not as in tune with the teen crowd as Snapchat, but that isn't stopping it from trying to fit in," according to a comment on the report by Engadget.

Facebook's Android app already provides users with the opportunity to add text and stickers to their images, but offers only limited filters, according to TechCrunch.

Snapchat reportedly turned down a $3 billion buyout offer from Facebook in 2013.

The photo-sharing service recently raise an additional $500 million from investors, valuing privately held Snapchat at $16 billion.

Snapchat Chief Executive Evan Spiegel reportedly said last month the company plans an initial public offering, although he didn't offer a schedule.
