Automotive Giants Report Record May Sales

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV FCAU on Tuesday reported May 2015 sales updates. Here is what the automotive giant experienced in the month:

  • Sales increased 4 percent (best May sales since 2005).
  • Exceeded 200,000 total unit sales for first time in eight years.
  • Jeep Cherokee and Wrangler had its best sales ever.
  • Dodge Challenger sales were up 29 percent (best monthly sales ever).
  • Sixty-second consecutive month of sales gains (year-over-year).

Shares of Fiat Chrysler were down 0.92 percent at $16.14.

Ford Motor Company F achieved record-breaking May sales numbers:

  • The all-new Ford Edge reported record May sales, up 34 percent with 13-day turn on dealer lots.
  • Lincoln retail sales increased 10 percent (best in eight years).
  • Ford Mustang had its best May sales since 2007, increasing 39 percent (13,616 units). Mustang sales have increased 55 percent year-to-date.

Although Ford had record sales, the company’s U.S. sales declined 1 percent from last year.

Shares of Ford Motor were up 0.55 percent at $15.44.

General Motors Company GM reported yet another strong monthly result:

  • May sales increased 3 percent, against an expected 0.1 percent, to 293,097 vehicle units.
  • Considered its best May sales since 2007.
  • Buick sales were up 0.5 percent.
  • GMC sales increased 12.5 percent; Chevy sales were up 1.4 percent.

Shares of General Motors were up 0.47 percent at $36.35.
