The Internet Of Things Getting A Push From Intel And Samsung

The Internet Of Things (IoT) has grown rapidly over the past few years as everything from appliances to automobiles has received an internet connection. The idea that people can connect to and control the world around them has been well received by the general public, making gadget manufacturers keen to give their latest offerings some degree of connectivity. Samsung Electronics

and Intel Corp

have been leaders in this field so far, the two are hoping to play a larger role in the growing IoT by providing businesses with the tools they need to get in on the trend.

Samsung has

a new line of technology called Artik with the intention of providing manufacturers with a way to join the IoT. Artik boasts a range of circuit boards measuring no larger than two postage stamps in length that can be used for things like fitness trackers and even lightbulbs. Not only have the boards been designed for use in other companies' products, but they are said to enhance Samsung's own line of smartphones and TV's.

Samsung isn't the only company providing this type of technology, earlier this year at the Consumer Electronics Show, Intel also

small- scale computer chips designed for use in the wearables market. Intel CEO Brian Krzanich said the tiny systems could be used in everything from watches to clothing. The chips are expected to be made available some time in the second half of 2015.
