Shares of TASER International, Inc. TASR jumped over 6 percent in Friday’s pre-market amid a report that the UK’s London Metropolitan Police will purchase body cameras.

The UK edition of The Register reported that London’s police will seek to become “the most transparent police force in the world” with the purchase of up to 30,000 body cameras.

Regarding the purchases, the interim chief technology officer at the Met, Stephen Deakin, was quoted at the police tech provider TASER Summit as saying, "We are accelerating the procurement process at the request of the Commissioner and Deputy Mayor."

The report suggested that the upfront cost of the body cameras would be offset by “dramatically” cutting the costs associated with compiling evidence for bringing a case to trial.

TASER International, Inc. gave back some of its earlier gains and traded at $29.32 in Friday’s pre-market, up 5.35 percent.
