Monday's Merger Mania

Several companies announced acquisitions in Monday's pre-market which sent stocks higher.

 

Archer Daniels Midland Company ADM announced it will acquire privately-held AOR N.V. The company is in the business of bottling and distribution of edible oils in Europe, with customers across the continent and a substantial export business, according to the press release.

 

Archer Daniels Midland Company recently traded at $46.72, up 0.56 percent.


Auspex Pharmaceuticals Inc ASPX soared 41.45 percent in the pre-market to $100.30 following news it would be acquired by Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd (ADR) TEVA for $101 per share.

 

Cellular Dynamics International Inc ICEL spiked up over 106 percent to $16.43 following news that FUJIFILM HOLDINGS CP FUJIF will acquire the company.

 

Catamaran Corp (USA) CTRX surged over 24 percent to $60.19 after UnitedHealth Group Inc. UNH announced it would acquire the company for $61.50 per share.

 

Shares of UnitedHealth Group Inc. rose 4.34 percent to $123.13.


Hyperion Therapeutics Inc HPTX surged over 7 percent to $45.91 following news that Horizon Pharma PLC HZNP will acquire the company for $46 per share in cash.

 

Horizon Pharma PLC also benefitted from the news and recently traded at $25.12, up 15.18 percent.
