eMarketer on Thursday projected
Twitter IncTWTR will see its share in the U.S. online display ad improve to five percent in 2015 from 3.6 percent in 2014.
The Wall Street Journal picked up the report and noted that the market research agency predicted Twitter will overtake Yahoo! Inc. YHOO as the third largest seller of online display advertising in the new year. However, Twitter still trails Facebook Inc's FB estimated 25.5 percent share and Google Inc's GOOG GOOGL estimated 13 percent share.
Twitter will see its market share gains improve through 2017 where eMarketer estimated the social media platform will hold a 6.8 percent share. Facebook will maintain a leadership position with 26.9 percent while Google will see its share dwindle to 11.1 percent. Yahoo will also see its share fall to 3.5 percent in 2017.
