Sonus Networks Inc. Tumbles 25% On Profit Warning

shares crashed early Tuesday after the company slashed its revenue forecast by a third and said it won't receive a number of expected orders. The networking and telecommunications equipment vendor changed hands recently down 26 percent to $9.74. Sonus, which last year got 19 percent of its revenue from AT&T Inc.

, expects to post an adjusted first-quarter loss between $0.29 cents and $0.34 cents, on revenue of $47 million to $50 million. Previously the Westford, Massachusetts-based company expected adjusted earnings of $0.03 cents a share on revenue of $74 million. Sonus also said it will announce cost-cutting measures when it posts quarterly results April 25. Chief Executive Raymond P. Dolan said Sonus is "confident we can move through this period" because of its "strong business fundamentals backed by solid relationships with a growing number of tier one service providers." Since Sonus' acquisition Performance Technologies Inc.in February 2014, the company has added a significant number of new customers, most of whom place smaller orders than the company's historical sales, the company has said.
