On Monday at the 2015 China IT Leadership Summit, Baidu Inc's (ADR)BIDU chief scientist Andrew Ng spoke about the importance and increased usage of artificial intelligence in today's world.

Ng and his team at Baidu are aiming to invent a new kind of AI that will learn the depths of human behavior and eventually bring great changes to the world, Chinese news website DoNews reported.

Baidu's chief scientist said that in the past few years though the technology has made great development, it has taken place at a snail's pace.

Ng was previously the brains behind the Google Brain project, which teaches machines how to think like humans do using "deep learning."

The The Economic Times explains deep learning as a method of learning that "works towards AI by making representations and models from large amounts of real-world data in machine-readable formats."

Now, at Baidu, Ng's work emphasizes on applying deep learning to "image recognition, speech and behaviour." The learning allows a computer to understand the human nervous system, so that it can in turn better solve recognition problems.

According to DoNews, Ng believes the opportunity to bring a lot of behavioral data to Baidu, including human behavior and the behavior of the machine, is higher today. More and more usage of deep learning to understand human behavior can help understand the behavior of the machine.
