report that the company is looking for an advisor to review its options, following pressure from investors, including Engaged Capital. According to sources, Rovi has received inquiries from severl private equity firms. The company holds patents on TV guides and is currently in litigation with Netflix, Inc.

EMC Decides Not to Spinoff VMWare StakeThe Rumor

. Activist investor, Elliott Management, had been pressing EMC to do the spinoff. Spokespersons for EMC, VMware and Elliott Management declined to comment on the report. EMC's stake in VMWare is valued at approximately $29 billion, EMC shares closed Friday at $28.94, a gain of $0.12, while VMWare shares gained $1.09, to close at $85.07.

. The sources say a deal for the TV ad-targeting firm is not imminent and the talks could collapse. Comcast shares rose $0.23 Friday, closing at $59.38.
NXP Semiconductors to Acquire Freescale Semiconductor in Cash, Stock DealThe Deal

announced Sunday, a merger agreement that will create a $40 billion enterprise. Under the terms of the agreement, Freescale shareholders will receive $6.25 in cash and 0.3521 of an NXP ordinary share for each Freescale common share held at the close of the transaction. The deal is expected to close in H2 of 2015. Freescale Semiconductor shares closed Friday at $36.11, a gain of $0.14.
SAIC to Acquire Scitor Corporation for $790M in CashThe Deal

announced Sunday, an agreement to acquire Scitor Corp. from Leonard Green & Partners for $790 million in cash. The deal is expected to close in May 2015. SAIC shares closed Friday at $54.67, a loss of $0.11.
