Thanks to an incredible performance by Katy Perry in the halftime show and thrilling ending to a game that pitted the best defense vs one of the best offenses in the league, Super Bowl XLIX became the most watched TV show ever with 114.4 million viewers and beat the previous record holder, last year's Super Bowl, by over 2 million viewers. The game saw Tom Brady win his fourth Super Bowl, tying a record held by Terry Bradshaw and Joe Montana. He now holds the record for the most Super Bowl appearances and MVP awards. Among adults 18-49 the game received a 47.5/71 ranking, another record. Advertisers were willing to pony up 4.5 million dollars per 30 seconds to reach the massive audience. Boston and Seattle not surprisingly had the highest market share with 81 percent of people watching television in Boston and 89 percent of households in Seattle tuning in to watch the game. On social media Super Bowl XLIX also became the most Tweeted about Super Bowl ever, with over 28 million tweets sent out relating to the game.
