Microsoft Corporation MSFT co-founder Bill Gates is bullish on his baby.

Gates, 59, took to Reddit Wednesday partly to promote an annual letter from his charitable Gates Foundation, but also offered a peek into his vision for the future.

"There will be more progress in the next 30 years than ever," Gates said in a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) session.

Gates sees gains for machines and speech understanding.

Robots will become efficient in tasks like picking fruit or moving a hospital patient.

"Once robots get to a level of capability where seeing and moving is easy for them then they will be used very extensively," Gates predicted.

The business magnate-turned-philanthropist said he's working with Microsoft on a "personal agent" project.

The application, Gates said, "will remember everything and help you go back and find things and help you pick what things to pay attention to."

But Gates said he's worried about rapidly advancing artificial intelligence, although initially, developments "should be positive if we manage it well."

"A few decades after that though the intelligence is strong enough to be a concern. I don't understand why some people are not concerned," Gates said.
