US stock futures traded lower in early pre-market trade, ahead of earnings from
JPMorgan Chase & Co. JPM
. Data on retail sales and import prices for December will be released at 8:30 a.m. ET. Data on business inventories for November will be released at 10:00 a.m. ET. The Federal Reserve will release its latest Beige Book report at 2:00 p.m. ET. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average tumbled 60 points to 17,475.00, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index futures fell 6 points to 2,010.10. Futures for the Nasdaq 100 index dropped 10.25 points to 4,148.25.
A Peek Into Global Markets
European markets were mostly lower today, with the Spanish Ibex Index rising 0.08%, STOXX Europe 600 Index dropping 0.41% and German DAX 30 index falling 0.05%. French CAC 40 Index slipped 0.11% and London's FTSE 100 Index fell 1.47%. French consumer prices increased 0.1% on the month in December. Eurozone industrial output rose 0.2% in November from October. In Asian markets, Japan's Nikkei Stock Average fell 1.71%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index dropped 0.43%, China's Shanghai Composite Index slipped 0.40% and India's Sensex slipped 0.29%. India's wholesale price index increased 0.11% y/y in December, versus economists' expectations for a 0.50% gain.
