Elon Musk To Shock At Auto Show, Much Like His Successful Peers

On Tuesday, Tesla Motors Inc.’s TSLA CEO Elon Musk is set to take the stage at the auto show in Detroit in what most expect to be a colorful speech that lives up to his eccentric reputation.

Musk is famous for his use of profane language and open criticism of his competitors in the auto industry, and this year’s talk isn’t expected to be any different. Investors are eager to see what Musk has to say about General MotorsGM new Chevrolet Bolt, an electric car that will directly compete with Tesla’s offerings, which was revealed on Monday.

While his colorful speech and admittedly obsessive personality is a stark contrast to the laid back personas of CEOs like Steve Jobs who have been hailed as exceptional leaders, Musk isn’t alone in lacking a filter. Some CEO’s have become polarizing figures on Wall Street as their boisterous personas are not always well accepted by the masses.

O’Leary Cuts At All Costs

Ryanair Holdings plc’s RYAAY Micael O’Leary is the perfect example of a CEO whose mouth has landed himself and his company in hot water over the years. O’Leary has never shied away from critics of the airline’s high pressure sales on board and even admitted that cost-cutting took precedence over customer service in his business model. Still, O’Leary’s ruthless management style and pursuit of value for the company has seen the Irish carrier grow to become Europe’s largest airline. While other airlines struggled to recover after the eurozone’s financial crisis, Ryanair shares have gained a remarkable 114.34 percent over the past three years.

T-Mobile Takes Aim At Competitors

T-Mobile US’s TMUS John Legere’s has resuscitated the failing wireless company by remaking the company’s image and promoting low-cost plans. The company has seen a marked increase in subscribers through the fourth quarter, which has earned it the title of fastest growing wireless carrier in the US. Legere has been unafraid to openly bash his competition; in a recent online post about his predictions for the coming year, Legere said “AT&T will find new ways to cause their customers pain” and that “Verizon will keep trying to baffle American wireless customers with BS promos.”
